Computing

We want our children to be competent digital learners. We keep up to date with the most recent technologies and use these cross-curricular across school.

In school, children have access to an ICT hub which holds a class set of iPads, Chrome Books and Laptops. The children understand how digital media is used to enhance their learning and to present it in different ways. Children are also taught about computer science, this is where children learn how the internet works and how to code using simple programs.

A major part of computing, is to ensure children know how to be digitally literate and how to stay safe online. They are taught about reliable sites, and how to check information is correct, and how to ensure they do not break copyright whilst online. They understand the impact of their behaviour online and know how to report any inappropriate activity they see.

KS2 today got the opportunity to program their own musical instrument using Scratch. We then plugged our program into a controller and used pears as the input. We had a great but noisy time

Year 3 have been creating GIfs to share their favourite facts about stone age humans. They used Keynote to create a slide show then exported it as a gif. This took planning, a web search for images and editing skills as they refined their ideas and improved their presentation skills. Here is a small selection of what they made.
