Year 2 School Trip

We were so excited to have our first trip in what feels like a very long time. We combined RE and Geography and were lucky to be able to visit the Church to help us investigate what makes a place sacred, and Lister Park to practise our map and compass skills. We also found time for a game of rounders and a kick about in the park before enjoying a well earned picnic when we returned to school. We had a great time and we are so grateful that we had the chance to go!

We had a fantastic day on Friday 18th June, celebrating Book Fest!

We dressed up as book characters, brought in our favourite stories to share and even created a book character potato!

Year 2 Pirate Day

Arrrrr me hearties! What a brilliant day in fancy dress doing all things pirate. The children all looked great and we avoided scurvy by making sure we created a healthy packed lunch

Meet The Pirates Poem

The Pirates are Coming Song

We had a great time celebrating Eid with our friends on Thursday 20th May

As part of our Pirates topic we created some Parrot art work using oil pastels and acrylic paint.
We think they turned out brilliantly!

Eid Party – 2S

Year 2 celebrated Eid in style with dancing, arts and crafts and (loads of) yummy party food! Thank you to all of our very generous parents for the donations of food. We spent Ramadan trying to fill up our Sadaqah Jar with good deeds, and we managed to fill it in time for the Eid party. This meant we got an extra treat – ice creams! Everyone had a well-deserved afternoon of fun after working so hard recently.

Treasure maps

As part of our pirate topic we have been learning about coordinates to help us use a map! We had fun deciding where to put our treasure. If you find one of our maps, remember – X marks the spot!

We followed an art tutorial to draw our very own pirate ships, we think they look great!

This half term we are thinking about diversity, we created a display to show that diversity is beautiful, we each designed a unique sea creature to add to our ocean to celebrate our individuality

Easter learning outdoors

In year two we had great fun on our Easter hunt. We found the sentences hidden outside in Easter envelopes. When we found the sentences, we put them in the right order to tell the story of Easter Sunday, and discussed why it means so much to Christians around the world.

2S Celebrate the Last Supper

Year two have been spending time learning about the Christian celebration of Easter. We have read all about Holy Week, and even got the chance to act out The Last Supper using pitta bread and blackcurrant. This really helped us to think about what Jesus meant when he said ‘This is my body’ and we have been learning about symbols of faith. We can’t wait to finish off learning about the story with an Easter egg hunt for information all about Easter Sunday and Jesus rising again!

This half term we made castles in DT and we tested out how long they would last under attack from a dragon!

It turns out cardboard castles do not last very long against fiery dragon breath (but we still had lots of fun!)

Children In Need 2020

We had a lovely art lesson in which we created Poppies for our SMSC display after learning about the importance of Remembrance Day
We are really proud of our artwork and we all tried our best, we think our display looks beautiful.

We had a great day for our ‘Class Bubble Party’, with lots of bubble science, art and even a chocolate fountain!
